Nirmal Kumar Roy and Kirsten Marie Buchert, Manchester, England, 1952
They met at the International Club August 8th, 1952 for a game of ping-pong.

In the Roy family history, this is a significant date as it was the beginning of the emigration to the occidental world. If Nirmal had gone back to India to be married in the traditional way there is a good chance that Pishi (Seema) and Kaku (Sunil) would have stayed in India. Similarly, there is a good chance that Kirsten would have returned to Denmark and settled down with a nice Danish guy.
